Biography
Igor Stanojoski was born in 1979 in Copenhagen, Danmark. He has worked at the National University of Lviv (Ukraine), University of Silesia in Katowice (Poland), and at the Masaryk University of Brno (Czech Republic). In 2009 he obtained his PhD from the University of Silesia. Since 2013 he works at Goce Delchev University in Shtip, Macedonia, currently as an associated professor. He has translated over 30 novels from Czech, Croatian, Slovakian, Ukrainian and Russian language.

DYSSOMNIAS (2017)

This is one of the Macedonian novels that received the most comments and the highest readership in the last years, with a sale of over 5,000 copies. It is an unpredictable, mystical, sometimes creepy as well as warm confession of a 29-year-old writer, of Macedonian origin, living in Ukraine with his fiancée journalist. The second part of the story in the novel is moved to a desolated village in southwestern part of Macedonia. The broadcasting program “Dyssomnias” and the unexpected elements of the Macedonian folklore mythology transfer the life of the writer to a whole new dimension.

This is one of the most complexed novels in the contemporary Macedonian literature. The main character is a translator, engaged to conduct simultaneous Macedonian-Ukrainian interpretation in a conference cabin. The whole story of the novel interweaves with the conference topic and the conference participants as well as with a surreal event of 17 years ago: from the city life in Lviv to the molfars in the Ukrainian Carpathians.
