Alijevikj predominantly writes short stories, which often move between autofiction and fiction, as well as between queer and feminist, with rare outings in magic realism.

Biography

Stefan Alijevikj (1991, Gevgelija) graduated from the Faculty of Philology “Blaze Koneski” in Skopje from the departments of General and Comparative Literature and English Language and Literature. He writes short stories, although he also experiments in other fictional genres as well as queer poetry. In 2022, Stefan published his debut book of short stories, “Evening Bus,” which was awarded in the regional selection for best feminist and queer literature “Štefica Cvek” for the year 2023. His book was translated into Serbian that same year. His new book of short stories is due to be published in 2025. Works by Stefan are also available to read in several literary magazines, portals, and anthologies at home and in the region. A selection of his work is published in Kosovo as part of the collaborative book project “e prapëseprapë, ne jemi këtu,” and in Croatia, in two anthologies, “Queer Balkan” and “Rušenje četiri zida,” respectively.

Outstanding and latest title:

“Evening Bus” is Stefan’s debut book of short stories. The book combines both autofiction and fiction narratives, and it’s divided into three parts: Childhood, Summer, and Dream.
