Biography<\/h5>\n\n\n\n
Simona Jovanoska<\/strong> was born on July 16, 1985, in Gostivar, North Macedonia. She graduated from the Faculty of Economics, Department of Marketing, and currently works as a copywriter. She has published four books to date: the short story collection \u201cI Found Them in the Deep\u201d (2015), \u201cThe Day of the Worm\u201d (2021), the children’s book \u201cThe City of Wabu and Navi’s Quest\u201d (2022) and the novel \u201cLeska Brezoska\u201d (2024). In 2019, she won second award in the short story contest announced by the newspaper \u201cNova Makedonija\u201d for the short story \u201cLast Floor.\u201d In the same competition, in 2022, she won first award for the short story \u201cTell the Dog.\u201d Her stories are included in the short story anthology \u201cDzindzudze in the land of poppies\u201d and her first novel, \u201cThe Day of the Worm,\u201d won the Novel of the Year Award for 2021 .<\/p>\n\n\n\n The novel consists of 19 chapters which, when read one after the other, form a thread. The different stories touch and connect with each other, ultimately forming a complete circle. The action in the novel takes place in one day, the Day of the Worm. Starting as a fable, \u043ever 27 characters, including both people and animals, parade through the novel. The action is intense, dynamic, and full of humor and surprises. Bulgaria, Serbia and Croatia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n A coming-of-age novel about a girl who, by coincidence, has a boy\u2019s name and at the same time receives the nickname Leska Brezoska as a child. The book explores the challenges of growing up as a young woman in provincial Macedonia during the 1990s, following her journey into her thirties.
