His poetry is profoundly philosophical and mystical, weaving together the Macedonian poetic tradition with Sufi verse.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Biography<\/h5>\n\n<p><strong>Andrej Al-Asadi<\/strong> was born in London, United Kingdom, in 1996. He is author of the following books of poetry: <em><strong>Midnight Blues<\/strong><\/em> (2014), <em><strong>Under the Dervish Sikke<\/strong><\/em> (2018), <em><strong>Empyrean Geometry<\/strong><\/em> (2019), <em><strong>Everyone is Everyone\u2019s Mirror <\/strong><\/em>(2022) and <em><strong>Rubedo <\/strong><\/em>(2025). For his collection of short stories <em>The Other Past<\/em>, Al-Asadi won the award for the best debut prose manuscript \u201c<strong>The New Ones<\/strong>\u201d in 2018. He also published his second book of short stories in 2021, <em><strong>The Morning of the Insomniacs<\/strong><\/em><strong>.<\/strong> For his epic poem <em><strong>Never Before or After<\/strong><\/em> he got the national <strong>Grigor Prlichev Award for Best Poem<\/strong> for 2024. He has taken part in a number of poetry readings and events such as the Struga Poetry Evenings, Stih u Regiji (SUR) in Zagreb, Croatia and the 5th Patras World Poetry Festival in Patras, Greece. Andrej four times has been nominated for the prestigious Brothers Miladinov Award in 2018, 2020, 2022, and 2025. He is currently a member of the executive board of the Skopje Poetry Festival &#8211; SPF. Recently, he was interviewed for the prestigious American magazine <em>World Literature Today<\/em>.
