2024 Skopje Book Fair Fellowship Program
The Macedonian Association of Publishers (MAI) has the honour of announcing the competition for the first Fellowship Program within the 2024 Skopje Book Fair.
We invite you to take advantage of this opportunity to apply for the Fellowship Program and be our guests from April 17 to 20.
The Skopje Book Fair is the largest cultural event in our country, this year to be held for the 36th time. The fair is a gathering point for more than 60 publishers (of which 75% are Macedonian publishers, about 15% Albanian publishers and about 10% other publishers), and is visited by about 30,000 people. With a rich program of events, promotions and meetings with authors, for a week it is the center of cultural events in the country and a favorite meeting place for publishers, authors and readers.
Get to know the Macedonian book market
North Macedonia is a country with nearly 2 million inhabitants, where the development of the publishing sector has been particularly visible in recent years. Our writers, both the older and the new generation, with their quality and the specific literature they create are slowly but surely winning the hearts of readers from Europe and the world.
The fellowship program is a unique opportunity to get to know the Macedonian publishing scene, which annually produces about 800 books, with an average circulation of 700 copies.
During your stay, we will enable you to get to know Skopje, our culture, our book market, authors, publishers and bookstores. You will also have the opportunity to experience the pulse of the readers during the Book Fair.

What costs will be covered?
Our Fellowship program will cover all travel and accommodation expenses during your three-day stay in Skopje.
The deadline for applying is March 20, 2024. The Fellowship program participants will be selected by a Committee composed of Macedonian publishers and will be notified as soon as possible after the competition closes.
